More and more couples are choosing to stretch their elopement across two or even three days instead of packing everything into one. And honestly, I’m not surprised at all!  Looking at my own bookings for next year, more than half of them are multi-day elopements. I don’t think it is a coincidence. That’s couples figuring out that when you’ve flown all the way to Italy for the most important day of your lives, one day might just not be enough. 

So let’s talk about why multi-day elopements are having becoming more popular, and whether one might be right for you too. 

What Does a Multi-Day Elopement Actually Look Like? 

Before we get into the why, let’s talk about the what, because multi-day elopements aren’t one-size-fits-all. There are a couple of ways to do it, each amazing in its own way.

Option 1: Two Days in the Same Location 

This is perfect if you’ve fallen in love with one specific area, for example, the Dolomites, Sardinia or Lake Como, and you want to really experience it rather than rush through it. Instead of trying to squeeze every location into one very long day, you spread it out. Day one might be a sunrise hike and ceremony, day two might be a lake, a waterfall, and a leisurely afternoon. You get to explore more, feel less rushed, and actually soak in the place you’ve chosen. 🥰

A multi-day also gets used if there are two activities or locations you’d like to experience, but they can only be done at the same time. For example, you want to have a lake Braies reservation in the Dolomites and also go on a hot air balloon ride. Both only take place early in the morning, which means you can not experience them both on the same day. Then you opt for a multi-day elopement and do them both on separate days!

Option 2: Two Locations, Two Full Days (or Three Days Total) 

This is the option for couples who don’t want to choose just one location! Think one full day eloping in the Dolomites and another full day in Tuscany, for example. 

Two completely different sceneries, two full experiences, two sets of epic photos. You can do the two locations on consecutive days and drive to the next spot on the evening of the first day, or take a day in between to travel and just relax, making it three days total. That middle day becomes its own little adventure: driving through the Italian countryside, stopping for pasta somewhere random, or finding a little wine bar. 😊 

So, Why Are Couples Choosing Multi-Day Elopements? 

1. You’ve come all this way, and you want to experience MORE.

This is the big one. When you’ve flown overseas, taken time off work, and invested in making this trip happen, it feels almost wrong to compress it all into 24 hours. Most couples choosing Italy for their elopement want to feel it, explore it, and fall in love with it. A multi-day elopement lets you do exactly that. You came for the adventure, so let’s have the adventure. ❤️

And for many couples, it’s genuinely not possible to choose just one location. Why pick between the dramatic Dolomite peaks and the golden rolling hills of Tuscany when you can have both?

2. You want to wear that dress more than once.

We all want to feel beautiful and wear that stunning dress more than once! A multi-day elopement gives you the chance to wear your dress for longer, or to have a completely different look for each location with one dress for the mountains, another for Tuscany. This way you can also get a nice variety in your photos!

3. The timeline gets even more relaxed!

I always work really hard to make sure a single-day elopement doesn’t feel rushed. That’s really important to me, because the last thing I want is for you to feel like you’re being herded from one spot to the next. But with a multi-day elopement, we get to relax the timeline even further. A two-day elopement could feel more overwhelming to you and your body, because it is two very rich days, so we build in even more breathing room and time to enjoy the moment.

4. From a photography standpoint, it actually makes the photos better.

A full elopement day starting before sunrise and finishing after sunset can easily be 16–18 hours. That’s a long time, and in the very early hours of the morning, we’re often relying on artificial light inside the accommodation, which is lovely and cozy but not always ideal for photography. Some couples have opted to take some photos already the day before the elopement, to relax the timeline on the main day. Photos that do not require being in wedding attire.

For example, you steaming the dress, writing the vows into your vow books, a boudoir session, flat-lays of all your details (the rings, the shoes, the florals while they are still fresh). These are things that sometimes get skipped or rushed, since they tend not to become priority in a very long day. Moving them to a separate day means we never have to skip them, and they look incredible. It just makes the whole gallery so much richer. 😊 

5. It simply is more fun!

I absolutely love multi-day elopements. Not just because of the photos or the logistics, but because spending two or three days exploring Italy together with a couple creates something really special. We go from being photographer and clients to genuinely feeling like friends on an adventure. We laugh more, discover things together, stumble upon little restaurants, and pull over for unexpected views. The friendship that forms over those days is something I treasure so much. ❤️
